What is there to do at Hobbledown Heath for Families

Hobbledown Heath offers a beautifully themed outdoor play areas and indoor experience ideal for families with young children, especially those aged 2–13 years. Spread across acres of beautiful woodland, the attraction is divided into multiple magical zones with the four themed villages of The Mining Village, Cribble Creek, Buckbridge Market and Wilderness Wood.

Here, kids can:

• Scramble through interconnected underground tunnels
• Dig for semi-precious stones (hidden in the sand pits!)
• Brave giant climbing frames
• Bounce on numerous jumping pillows, and even try out unique water pillows
• Enjoy indoor play at the massive Great Barn, a sprawling soft play barn that ensures rainy days don’t spoil the entertainment.

The Great Barn also features designated play areas for under-twos, 2–5 year olds, and older children, complete with giant nets, slides, knitted caterpillar swings, and more.

Accessibility: The park is largely buggy and wheelchair-friendly (although note that some areas are hilly or grassy).

Food and Drink: On-site cafés and kiosks provide refreshments, and picnics are welcome with plenty of outdoor seating.

Hobbledown Heath also features a small, well-kept zoo area, home to lots of farm and zoo animals including:

Informative boards at each enclosure offer engaging educational facts.

Important Tip: Animal walkthroughs and bird of prey demonstrations are often weather-dependent and may be closed on rainy or quieter days, which has happened to us before and the kids found disappointing.

Animal feeding experiences like feeding the capybara, and zookeeper encounters with exotic and traditional animals are also available, but they must be booked separately and come at an extra cost.

To be honest, it’s not a patch on London Zoo, but it’s more about the outdoor play than nature for my children.

What Hobbledown Heath Does Well

• Imaginative play areas that feel different from your typical park
• Varied indoor and outdoor activities
• Good accessibility for buggies and wheelchairs (with some hilly spots)
• Clean facilities and plenty of picnic spaces
• Interactive elements like pulleys, levers, and treasure hunts
• The Seasonal events are great, the tulip patch is a delight (this year was April 4th to April 23rd), and Halloween and Christmas are always amazing with light trails
• We’ve had birthday parties there in the past which is always fun for all

Points to Watch Out For:

• Parking: Paid separately (£1/hour via Britannia Parking) and spaces fill quickly. No official pedestrian crossing between the car park and entrance.
• Extra Costs: Entry fees do not cover everything – expect additional charges for animal experiences and some activities.
• Crowds: The indoor soft play can become very busy on rainy days.
• Seasonal Variations: Some outdoor activities and animal walkthroughs may not operate in colder or wetter months.

Verdict

For families willing to plan carefully and manage expectations, Hobbledown Heath offers a magical, highly memorable and extraordinary day out, particularly for kids aged 2–10. In good weather, the extensive outdoor areas and adventure zones really shine. But if visiting in winter or rain, be prepared for a more limited (and much busier) experience indoors.

Hobbledown Heath is the perfect leisure outing that blends energetic fun with hands-on discovery. It’s solid entertainment and enjoyment for all ages.

By Car

Hobbledown Heath is located in Hounslow, West London (postcode: TW14 0HH).

M25: exit at Junction 14 for Heathrow Terminal 4/Longford. Follow signs toward Hounslow and Staines Road (A315).

• Paid parking on-site (£1/hour).

Tip: Book your parking online when purchasing tickets. Arrive early on busy days.

Public Transport

Option 1:

• Take the Elizabeth Line to Hayes & Harlington.
• Change for a local train toward Feltham.
• Taxi from Feltham Station (around 10 minutes) or a short bus ride.

Option 2:

• Take the Piccadilly Line to Hounslow West station.
• Then a taxi (approx. 10 minutes) to Hobbledown Heath.

By Bus

Local buses 111, 285, and 90 from Hounslow stations stop near Staines Road, close to Hobbledown Heath.
