Alexandra Palace’s free StrEATlife Festival is returning this May Bank Holiday weekend, bringing street food, craft beer, cocktails and live music back to one of north London’s best-known outdoor terraces. Official event listings say the two-day festival will take place on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May 2026 from 12pm to 8pm on The Terrace at Alexandra Palace, with free entry and no tickets required.

Organisers say StrEATlife will once again take over Alexandra Palace’s south-facing terrace, combining food and drink traders with panoramic views across London. The official event page says visitors can expect 20 of London’s best food and drink traders, alongside craft beer, cocktails and a weekend soundtrack of DJs and live music.

What is StrEATlife Festival?

StrEATlife is Alexandra Palace’s long-running free street food and craft beer festival, staged on the Palace’s outdoor terrace as a relaxed, drop-in event rather than a ticketed festival site. The 2026 listing describes it as a Bank Holiday weekend celebration built around food, drink and open-air views, with dishes ranging from lobster rolls to vegan Buddha bowls and jerk chicken, plus ice-cold beer and margaritas.

According to the press information released ahead of the weekend, the line-up is expected to include more than 20 traders, with global street food, desserts, vegetarian and vegan options, plus mixed cocktails, ciders and alcohol-free drinks. Alexandra Palace has also said the event is open to all ages, with dogs on leads welcome

What food and drink can visitors expect?

The official event listing gives a flavour of the menu rather than a full trader-by-trader breakdown, but says festival-goers can expect a mix of high-comfort and globally inspired street food. It specifically highlights lobster rolls, vegan Buddha bowls and jerk chicken, all served with drinks including craft beer from Brixton Brewery and cocktails such as margaritas.

The press release adds that the weekend will feature a broad mix of savoury and sweet traders, with desserts and vegetarian options also part of the line-up. For readers deciding whether it is worth the trip, the main attraction is less about one single headline vendor and more about the overall combination: free entry, a broad casual-food offer and a terrace with one of the best elevated views in London.

Why the venue matters

Part of StrEATlife’s appeal is its setting. Alexandra Palace says the festival takes place on its iconic terrace, with panoramic views across the capital. That gives it a very different feel from a typical street food market or pop-up yard, and makes it more of a Bank Holiday destination than a simple stop for lunch.

The event is also easy to reach by public transport. Alexandra Palace’s visitor information says the venue has its own rail station, Alexandra Palace Station, with Great Northern services running direct from Moorgate and via King’s Cross. The venue’s public transport guide also says the W3 bus links Alexandra Palace with Wood Green and Finsbury Park

A free London Bank Holiday day out

For Londoners, one of the strongest selling points is that StrEATlife remains free to enter at a time when many food and drink events now come with advance booking fees or timed tickets. That makes it an easy option for families, groups of friends and dog owners looking for a casual outdoor day out over the Bank Holiday weekend. Alexandra Palace’s event page confirms that there is no ticket requirement and that visitors can simply turn up.

With food, beer, cocktails, music and a broad open-air setting, StrEATlife is likely to appeal most to people who want a laid-back terrace festival atmosphere rather than a more formal market or seated dining event. The biggest advice from the organisers appears to be the simplest one: come hungry.
